Ultralight backpacking can often be filled with serious debates about the silliest details. Weight is scrutinized gram by gram, and even a slight edge can justify a complete gear switch. Power banks are no exception, and the newest additions to the world of gram counting is none other than the Haribo Mini Power Bank 20000mAH and the Haribo Mini Power Bank 10000mAH.
For years, the gold standard has been the Nitecore NB 20000 and the Nitecore Carbo 20000. They are both light, and widely accepted in the ultralight scene. However, at 286 grams (10.09oz), the Haribo Pocket Size Mini Power Bank 20000mAH undercuts them both, and it does it with a built-in USB-C cable and gummy bear branding.
A Solid Ultralight Battery Option

The Haribo-branded 20,000 mAh battery bank and the smaller Haribo Mini Power Bank 10000mAH are cartoonish products with a fake gummy bear attached to the USB-C cable, but it’s specs compete directly with the top ultralight battery banks. This battery is lighter than both Nitecore options, offers the same fast charging specs, and costs a fraction of the price.
The battery itself was developed by Hong Kong DC Global, and sold under the Haribo name as a crowdfunding project. On sale, it ran me about $22. The weight measured in at 10.1 ounces (286 grams). That is lighter than the Nitecore NB 20000 at 10.26 ounces (291 grams) and the Nitecore Carbo 20000 at roughly 10.42 ounces (295 grams).
Not Just a Toy

The Haribo 20k mAH battery and the Haribo Mini Power Bank 10000mAH have a built-in USB-C cable with a reinforced strain relief loop to protect the connection. There is also a USB-C port on the side that can be used for either input or output. The battery supports 22.5-watt fast charging, the same as the Nitecore models. When using both ports simultaneously, charge speed drops, but single-port use delivers full power.
There is a small LED indicator for battery level on the bottom. Build quality is basic but solid. The fake gummy bear on the cable adds no value except joy. Lot’s of joy.
In Use

I typically carry two Nitecore 10,000 mAh banks for photography trips. If I were heading out for longer and wanted a single power source, this would be my new choice. It saves half an ounce compared to the NB 20000, and removes the need for an extra cable thanks to the built-in USB-C. It charged my Garmin inReach Mini, Osmo Pocket 3, my phone, and a camera battery without issue.
How It Compares

| Model | Weight | Charging Ports | Fast Charging |
|---|---|---|---|
| Haribo Pocket 20000 | 10.1 oz (286 g) | Dual USB-C + Cord | 22.5 watts |
| Nitecore NB 20000 | 10.26 oz (291 g) | Dual USB-C | 22.5 watts |
| Nitecore Carbo 20000 | 10.42 oz (295 g) | USB-C + USB-A | 20 watts |
Final Thoughts

The Haribo Pocket 20k mAH Power Bank and the Haribo Mini Power Bank 10000mAH is not a gimmick, regardless of its silly branding. They are the lightest 20,000 and 10,000 mAh battery banks on the market, match premium specs, and sell for under $25. It does not have water resistance or the sleek carbon shell of the Nitecore models, but it delivers on what counts.
If you are an ultralight backpacker or photographer looking to trim ounces and save money without sacrificing functionality, this is a serious contender. It may look whimsical, but it works as advertised; and as an ultralight backpacker and landscape photographer: the Haribo Pocket Size Mini Power Bank 20000mAH and Haribo Mini Power Bank 10000mAH has easily earned a spot in my backpack.
